Alexander the Great was one of the most successful military commanders of all time. He is known for conquering much of the known world during his lifetime. He was on campaign for a total of ten years, from 336 BC to 326 BC. During this time, he conquered lands from Greece to India, creating one of the largest empires in history.



Alexander's first major campaign began in 336 BC, when he was crowned king of Macedon. He quickly set out to expand his kingdom, conquering Thrace and Thessaly and defeating the Illyrian and Thracian armies.
