Why is hemolytic jaundice acholuric?
It is typically characterized by high concentration of indirect or unconjugated bilirubin, which can cross the blood–brain barrier into the central nervous system, thereby causing encephalopathy since unconjugated bilirubin is water insoluble and cannot be excreted into urine (acholuric jaundice).
