Dacryoadenitis is usually due to a viral infection of the lacrimal gland. Patients present with adenopathy, fever, malaise and leukocytosis. The causes include infectious mononucleosis, herpes zoster, mumps, trachoma, syphilis, tuberculosis and sarcoidosis.
