5-ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine (EdU) is a nucleoside analog dye-labeled which is incorporated into proliferating cells in their DNA during its synthesis, dyeing the cells with a bright fluorescent label that can be detected by flow cytometry or fluorescence microscopy and it can be used in cell cultures or tissues.
