What does the body use acetate for?
Ethanol is metabolized to acetate in the liver and, for decades, acetate was regarded as simply a source of energy and two carbon units for the synthesis of fats in this organ. A portion of the acetate produced in the liver enters the circulation and can be used as energy in the brain.Aug 24, 2019
