What are acinous glands?
The acinus is a functional unit mainly dedicated to the production and secretion of digestive enzymes (6 as much as 20 g daily). It is composed of 15 to 100 pyramidal-shaped cells (as much as 30 µm apical base height) known as acinar cells (Cleveland et al, 2012).
